“The poet of colour”: that’s the name that critics gave to the painter Gio’ d’Amico. He was born in Milazzo (Messina) in 1921, he died in Milazzo in 1999. He spent his childhood in Sicily, then in Greece where he remained for six years. After he moved to Rome, he attended the Academy and then joined the group of realist painters and participated in many group exhibitions. In 1950 he moved to Genoa, where he worked hard for the whole last part of his human and artistic life. His works are permanently displayed in important galleries in Munich, Cannes, Athens, the USA and other towns in Italy and Europe. This canvas participated in the “Premio Albisola per la pittura” in 1957, as shown in the photo.
