Lador switzerland Ste. Croix 2/40 - Caja musical (1) - Madera, vidrio, papel, metal.

Music box from the early 20th century, with LADOR Switzerland Ste.Croix 2/40 mechanism. Intriguing music box with dedication and internal inscription “By permission of the Science Board of Director in Boston, Mass and the Trusteees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy”. Mary Baker Eddy Mary Baker Eddy (Bow, 16 July 1821–Chestnut Hill, 3 December 1910) was an American theologian, founder and prophet of Christian Science. Biography: Growing up in a deeply religious congregationalist family, at an early age she rebelled against the Calvinist doctrine of predestination, against the concept of original sin and hell, and regularly turned to the Bible with her prayer to find hope and inspiration. She developed her doctrine after the sudden healing from a fracture following a fall on the ice on 10 February 1866: the healing did not derive from medical science, but from faith. She was convinced that the illness was not actually a reality and that the body was influenced by mind and prayer. In 1875, she wrote the first edition of the book Science and Health with the Key to Scriptures and four years later founded the First Church of Christ, Scientist, based in Boston. In 1908 Mary Baker Eddy founded the American newspaper The Christian Science Monitor. It plays two tunes: “ Sheperd show me how to go” “O gentle presence” The outside key does not close the box but triggers the mechanism as per the instructions listed under the base; to the left, it blocks the mechanism and to the right, it starts the music. Good condition of use, clean, oiled and tested. It works well. Height 6 cm, width 9 x 12 cm. Weight: approx. 300 grams. Careful proper packaging and tracked shipping via express courier. Available for local pickup.
