Beautiful shield, presumably belonging to the Oromo people of Ethiopia.
Made of buffalo or rhinoceros skin, very durable and of fine workmanship.
Handmade shield with decorations that follow a concentric pattern on all the surface. Conical shape.
Each shield was handmade, the skins were hammered and stretched on wooden shapes and later dried.
The Ethiopian warriors are known for their courage, ferocity and hunting skills.
It’s part of the native hunting weapons in colonial Africa.
This shield shows its history and peculiarity.
Accompanied by a bow, presumably still belonging to the Ethiopian tribe.
