A fine bronze crane and turtle sculpture as a candlestick, standing 27½cm tall and weighing circa 830g. Crane and turtle is an old legend from Chinese literature symbolizing the synergies of two parties sharing their individual strengths in order to achieve more together. After a flood, the crane is tired of looking for land and asks a turtle if he can rest on his back. Once recuperated enough to continue his journey, he eventually finds dry land and returns to find the turtle and lead the way for him.
Estimated age: circa 1900.
Condition: Generally good, no damages or repairs. Minor wear commensurate with age.
