Italia - Túnica garibaldiana del ejército de los Vosgos 1871 - Uniforme - 1871
Beautiful and very rare Garibaldian jacket, that belonged to the Garibaldian Madella during the Franco-Prussian War. During the conflict, the Garibaldian army took part in some clashes. The Italian force, headed by Garibaldi himself, took the name of Army of the Vosges. These men dressed in a very heterogeneous way, wearing clothes mainly recognisable from the red colour but with very different shapes. This specimen is made of red cloth, with two rows of four buttons. The real fastening is in the centre, with a row covered with wooden buttons, finished in white trimmings that are also on the collar. On the collar there is the regiment number embroidered in grey thread on green background. Two medals are sewn on the chest: one struck for the Italian unification, 1870, and the other one to commemorate the defence of Rome. The name of the owner and the date are written with nib inside. The uniform is complete with a white cotton waistcoat, closed by a row of brass buttons, of which one is missing. Excellent specimen, very rare.
