A dune landscape at the Veluwezoom by Herman Romijn. It can be determined from the discoloration of the leaf of the shrub that it was painted in the fall. The artwork has a beautiful sloping horizon and the sandy path provides a lot of depth in the painting. The canvas is still in the original ornamental frame. Condition of the painting and frame: The painting is in a good condition, the frame is in a good to reasonably good condition and has signs of wear. Short biography: Herman Anthony Romijn was born in Barneveld on 13-11-1892 and died in Arnhem on 4-10-1959. He was a painter, draughtsman, watercolourist and etcher since 1907. He attended a 3-year course at the Kunstnijverheidsschool in Utrecht. He worked in Utrecht, Oosterbeek (Renkum) 1940 - 1959 and France (Brittany). Romijn was a student of Gerrit van Dokkum (1870-1931) and Johan Gabriëlse (1881-1945). He painted architecture, landscapes, portraits and still lifes. Romijn was a member of Painter and Drawing Society Kunstliefde (Utrecht), Artibus Sacrum (Arnhem) and Rhijn-Ouwe. He was also co-founder of Punt '62. 150/5000 A book was published by the authors Dick van Veelen and Ulbe Anema "Herman Romijn en de Oosterbeekse kunstenaarsvereniging Rhijn-Ouwe (1955-1961)".
