Ulisse Salvador (1910-2008) - Muri Veneziani n.6
An artist’s proof from the main theme of one of the great artists of the twentieth century in Italy, with many exhibitions and books dedicated to him.
Pupil of Bortolo Sacchi and friend of Bruno Saetti, Salvador focuses his art on graphic details, where he can search for a point of view which is not often read.
In the 1970s the breadth of the themes treated by this artist is enriched by a new invention: “the Venetian walls” that connote him, in the sumptuousness of the emphasis on colour and in the fluidity of the lines, as heir of the great tradition of the Venetian school.
In these works there are no sky, earth or water and all the attention is focused on the facades of these imaginary Venetian houses. The walls are sumptuous, with mullioned windows with two and three lights and portals that mark the passages on these surfaces, suggesting the existence of other intimate places unknown to us, secret and inviolable worlds to which access is forbidden.
