From the front through the plug, the day and month can be set
with large framed glass blocks.
The first finished calendar of this kind (such as this one)
has another fine elaborate twisted chain and large stones.
Later simple chains and small stones were used.

This calendar was created based on the original from the year 1684,
which is in the possession of the Cistercian Abbey of "Marienstern"
