Fine earthenware teapot by the Upsala Ekeby Gefle firm from Sweden, Astra model and designed by Eugen Trost. Eugen Trost, born in 1898, died in 1983, was a Swedish decorator. Eugen Trost came from Germany and was trained as a decorator by Schramberg Majolikafabrik. In 1922, he started out as head secretary at Gefle Porcelain Factory and was at the same time with artistic leader Arthur Percy. As head decorator, Trost worked with both instruction and supervision of other decorators in the factory. He also designed a number of altered decorations. He worked in the factory until 1963. Eugen Trost is known for his 1950s decor, Zebra. It was hand-painted and can be found on copper. He also made the decor of Kiruna and Safir. In 1998, an exhibition was held in Eugen Trost's honour by the Friends of Geflekeramik. He would have been 100 years that year.
