Exquisite antique 14Kt. gold ring with a 2,06ct oval cut blue man-made Spinel set on a decorated antique wide ring head up to the rail. It has a clear, sky blue color, which is easier be described with a picture. For many centuries, most gem spinels were misidentified as sapphires or rubies because they have similar properties. They are slightly softer than sapphires but still very durable and known for they beautiful brilliance. The delicate handcraft really does speak for itself.
Spinel: 9,8x7,2mm - 2,06ct
Gold: 585 Tested, no hallmark present
Ring head: 12,8x15,3mm
Ring size: 17mm
Condition: Great condition. Feel free to judge it from the pictures above, they were taken with a macro lens under lightning to see the imperfections well. The edges of the gem seem slightly worn off up close, but because of the natural brilliance of Spinels it is not noticeable from 20cm, it just overpowers any shortcomings and the reason why they were so popular in past.
Sent in a jewellery gift box as a signed and insured package.
I'm a collector that travels through Europe from a small city to another in search of beautiful pearls and other treasures for my collection. Others might use this space for meaningful info, but let me take this moment to remind you all of two things. First of all, as I love Akoya pearls, I can't stress enough that they are the beauty of perfection. I remember how as a kid I was attracted to every shiny gem I could find, but as your taste matures you and gets more refined your interest in Akoya pearls will also grow. Look up information on them, let yourself be entangled in that allure. For me it's the pinnacle of perfect pearls in every aspect including the size as the elegance just shines with every piece. Catawiki started off as a platform for collectors to trade pieces and for me that is still the most important part of it. I would like to thank every buyer and seller out there that uses the platform in that regards. This also brings me to the second point, buying and trading online is nice and all, but still I would like to remind everyone to pass by a local jeweler when you acquire a piece to confirm that it is indeed real gold / pearls / gems and not some synthetics. To put this even a step further I try to take pictures close and from far so both the condition and size are clear, but it's hard to live up to different expectations as well. In either case it's not my intention to kick anyone with a piece you hate, so don't be afraid to message me if it didn't fit or wasn't what you expected. We're also people here, so don't worry and tell me the problem, we'll figure something out. (I've already surprised you ended up reading this far) Have a nice! With kind regards, Albert
