In 1950, Cousteau acquires a Minesweeper American age 8, modifies and transforms to a research vessel fully equipped. Calypso was born. The first trip took place in 1951 on the Red Sea, and since then Jacques Cousteau, his son Philip and a team of explorers realized numerous experiments and research on the underwater world, all over the world.
The ship 42 metres long and 360 tons, is powered by 2 diesel engines of 600 HP, and a maximum speed of 13 knots. It is equipped with a large number of special facilities for conducting research, but also filming and photographing.
The Billing Boats model was made according to the original plans and with the collaboration of the Cousteau Foundation. The kit includes everything needed to build the model material. ABS plastic case. Bridge and spare parts wooden superstructure, deck fittings in brass, dish, helicopters, boats and plastic platform, etc. ..
The dimensions of the model are 92 cm long, 20 cm high and ca. 40 cm wide.
