Peter Behrens (1868-1940) AEG hair dryer with original box
An industrial designer piece: hairdryer from the company AEG designed by the important designer PETER BEHRENS (1868-1940) in rare original cardboard!
Very high-quality design! Completely original, with original box, warranty card and control sheet. Two-colour supply cable with rubber plug which are also original. This is very rare. The rubber plug has been since trimmed however on 4 sides, so that it can be used with standard sockets with protective covers (early plug shape!)
Device is really in very beautiful, preserved condition.
Box is also very beautiful; it only has light age-related blemishes (see photos).

Architect, painter, designer and typographer
Peter Behrens stands as the pioneer of the modern industrial design!
He was originally an artist then became an architect before the First World War pioneering functional architecture and industrial design. He is especially known as a co-founder of the German "Werkbund" (work federation) and for his extensive artistic work for the AEG before the First World War. He is considered the prototype of the industrial designer as also the inventor of Corporate Design, as he designed everything in a sense from letterheads about the products, such as electric kettles to their factory buildings. The architects office, which he managed, obtained particular significance because later on, architects such as - Walter Gropius, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier among others - who later became famous, had been working there around at the same time.
He also acted as typeface designer for the Klingspor brothers' type foundry.
Here he designed a series of fonts including the Behrens Antiqua in 1907.
