Junghans Kriegsmarine - Stopp-Uhr (cronómetro) 1940/1945
A Junghans Kriegs-Marine Stopwatch, also called Artillerie-stoppuhr.
This type of stopwatch was mostly used on destroyers, cruisers and submarines
to allow the artillery to time the interval between firing and impact.
By doing this they could adjust the time setting on the next grenades.
This is a simple model, there were models with a turn-around time of 10 sec. and tachymeter functions.
This is a 60 sec. stopwatch, it counts to 1/5th sec., and can count up to 30 mins with the small second.
It is in fair condition and runs and adjusts well.
It does show significant wear and tear, however, it has been used intensively.
But the dial is in a perfect condition.
The back bears a marine-Abnahme stamp.
It is made of "Gunmetal" and probably made at the end of the war.
A functioning timepiece with a visible history.
The swastikas are airbrushed out on the pictures to avoid offence.
