Natural Fossil Placenticeras intercalare and Placenticeras costatum From St. Mary River Basin in Alberta, Canada
Offered here is a slab containing two, one-of-a-kind ammonite fossils. This small Placenticeras intercalare is approximately 13 cm. in diameter and larger Placenticeras costatum fossil is approximately 23 cm. in diameter displayed in a natural rock matrix measuring approximately 80 cm. X 62 cm. and 7 cm. in width at the widest part. It weighs 48 kg. Both ammonites are bright and have great shape. The smaller one is primarily red with some oranges and golds as well. The larger ammonite displays all the colours of the spectrum.
This fossils have been polished to reveal the colours present as well as the natural shape present in these fossils.
These ammonites have been inlayed in this piece of natural Bearpaw shale from southern Alberta, Canada. The back has been stabilized and a piece of wood has been attached for easy hanging.
This fossil was collected from the banks of the St. Mary River in southern Alberta, Canada. It is from sediments that are approximately 71 MYA. The formation is the famous Bearpaw formation.
It has been numbered and registered with the province of Alberta and will need a Federal Export Permit from the Government of Canada to leave the Canada. The seller will provide this as well as a Certificate of Authenticity for provenance. The seller warrants the legality of this fossil and the certificate of authenticity will bear this disposition number.
Ammolite and Canadian ammonites are one of the rarest gemstones on Earth. They are found in one small 10 sq. km pocket of southern Alberta, Canada.
