Rosenthal fish group, porcelain figurine of two angelfishes, 1st prize at World Expo Paris, Fritz Heidenreich ~ 1937
Beautiful and large, 40.5 cm (!) tall, Rosenthal porcelain figurine of a group of angelfishes on a quality base swimming through sea grass (as support). Seldom offered in this size.
Very realistically modelled design by Fritz Heidenreich from around 1937, white porcelain, polychrome exquisitely painted by hand under the glaze, 40.5 cm tall and 19 cm wide. On the pedestal is the artist's signature "H. Heidenreich", and on the base, in green, is the stamped, polished mark of the art department, ‘Classic Rose Rosenthal Group Germany, handbemalt’, also pressed into the edge of the pedestal is the model number ‘1636’.
Very good, as new, display condition, no damage, no chips, no hairline cracks, no repair work. This design of the angelfish group was exhibited at the World Expo in Paris in 1937, where it was awarded first prize. One year later in 1938, the figurine could be seen at the ‘1st German Exhibition for Arts and Crafts and Architecture’ in Munich in the House of German Art, it was there again, one year later at the exhibition "Great German Art exhibition 1939".
