Works and keeps time. 1960s Waltham 100 jewels, one of Waltham's notorious watches from the "jewel wars" period, this one being based on a 17 jewel AS (A. Schild) cal. 2063 movement, with the extra 83 jewels fitted to both sides of the periphery of the automatic rotor (you can see the jewels at the outer circumference). These extra jewels served no true useful function and were basically a marketing tool claiming to ease the rotor movement and keep it "scratch" free. THIS EXTREMELY RARE movement is marked WALTHAM GENEVE SWISS CYCLOTRON 100 JEWELS. The added 83 jewels are spaced around the perimeter in a decorative pattern, below the retainer ring. According to discussions on the NAWCC website, this is an extremely uncommon and very rare movement, produced to celebrate the 100 year anniversary or similar milestone of the Waltham Watch Company... this could be not only an interesting research project, but an important piece for a watch collector or the NAWCC museum...Everybody is looking for one, this is a chance to have one of the few left over from the great history and benchmarks of the great Waltham Watch Co., and I have not seen anything like this anywhere...
