No.4 Cartridge Kodak model E: 4 x 5 " camera, with red bellows, lens: f7.7, 170 mm Kodak Anastigmat, iris diaphragm to f45, 1897 The no. 4 Cartridge Kodak was a big and bulky camera made from 1897 to 1907 and took 4 × 5 inch exposures on 104 roll film. The first models had a wooden stand, the later were of metal. Two image viewfinders were built-in for vertical and horizontal images. This camera was the only Kodak using the 5 inch wide No.104 roll film (the ' cartridge ' film though). Kodak No. 4 Cartridge In 1897 Kodak introduced the first of their new cameras with a roll film with paper carrier. The No. 4 Cartridge Kodak took the new Type 104 cartridge roll film that was introduced especially for this camera and took 4 x 5 inch photos. It was by far the most popular of the three cartridge-Kodak models during these years, with about 90,000 sold from 1897 to 1907. In 1898 the model N0.5 was launched, while the No. 3 was introduced in the beginning of 1900. All three Cartridge Kodaks were discontinued in 1907. Lovely specimen for the Kodak collector.
