In very good, restored condition
A 19th century liqueur chest made during the Dutch Empire - period around 1800-1810. The liqueur chest is made of oak wood and glued, with (crotch) mahogany veneer. The top and front are glued with one finely delineated piece of crotch mahogany veneer. The quarter cylidner lid has a raised edge and has a quarter cyliner brass frame work. The inside has six sections for the carafes, one carafe is unfortunately missing. The carafes are decorated with fine gold painting, with one this is more visible than with the other. The inside is lined with (presumably) the original blue velours and the edges are lined with golden yellow watered maple veneer. On either side of the liqueur chest there are refined brass handles, on which the rosettes are decorated with palmette leaves. The lock with the working key is not original, just like the beautiful oval brass key entrance. The liqueur chest has decorated paper glued to the bottom and rests on refined twisted brass feet. A beautiful, stately and elegant liqueur chest with a deep, warm colour that perfectly comes through the original polished finish!
Dimensions rectangular model; Height: 23.5 cm, Width: 28 cm, Depth: 17.5 cm.
