Nice Hondo II Jazz bass. Made in Korea, this bass is from a sub brand of the famous Tokai factory. The wood appears to be ash, certainly not maple! I have replaced the control panel myself in 1982 for a wooden panel. And it is still lin good condition without cracks. The metal plate can easily be bought and mounted if you would really like that. The bass is original other than that. I have bought the bass myself in 1981. There was a hairline crack in the back of the body on the glue point of one of the wings. This crack can be seen in the last photo and I can tell you that the crack has not become bigger in the last 36 years. It has not changed at all and it has no effect on the sound of the bass. In short, a fun, nice to play old lady for many more years of music fun! Please note! This guitar was made in Korea. Hondo is a Japanese brand, hence the inclusion in the Japanese auction.
